Upcoming public events—Learn about our plans for the Oban 1 berth
We’re inviting communities to learn about our plans to upgrade the infrastructure at the ‘Oban 1’ linkspan and its adjacent slipway. These changes will support the requirements for new vessels being proposed for routes using this berth, and are designed to help ensure future resilience.
We will host both an in-person event in Oban, as well as an online virtual event, which will help ensure that stakeholders from all communities served by the Oban 1 berth and adjacent slipway have the opportunity to hear about this project and engage directly with the project team.

What we’ll cover
Join us at the event to learn about the progress made so far in the outline design and consenting requirements of the project. Topics will include:
- Enabling the Oban slipway to be used by the hybrid vessel class and the new Small Vessel Replacement Programme (SVRP) vessels.
- Upgrading Oban 1 Berth, its linkspan, and approach structure to enable their usage by in-scope vessels.
- The introduction of a new overnight berth for an SVRP or hybrid vessel, along with the required shore power facilities.
- The work required to confirm the fit of the Passenger Access System (PAS) and recommendations to include an outline design for a new PAS.
- The Harbour Revision Order and Marine Licence required to undertake the works, along with the steps being taken to provide an appropriate pre-application consultation.
- Initial considerations and implications of disruption during construction.
How to attend
The in-person event in Oban is a drop-in session and requires no pre-registration. Please come along at a time that is convenient to you. Our project team will be on hand to answer any queries you may have.
To attend the online event, please register in advance. The meeting will take place using Microsoft Teams, and our project team will begin their presentation at 18:00.

Shortly after the events, we will publish the presentation materials on our project page for anyone who is unable to attend either in person or online.
