CMAL currently owns 31 ferries plus an additional unit leased from Maritime Leasing Ltd. All of these ferries are operated by Calmac Ferries Ltd (CFL) on routes to the islands and peninsulas of the West of Scotland except for the Canna which is operated by Rathlin Island Ferries Ltd in Northern Ireland.

The smallest vessels can carry 5 cars and up to 143 cars or 20 HGVs can be accommodated on the Loch Seaforth. The total fleet value at 2015 is £138m.

Largest ferryThe largest ferry in the fleet is the MV LOCH SEAFORTH which was built by Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaft MBH and Co KG, Flensburg, Germany in 2014. The MV LOCH SEAFORTH serves the Ullapool – Stornoway (Lewis) route, and can accommodate 142 cars and 700 passengers.

The vessel was christened by Mrs Joan Murray, the eldest daughter of the late Captain John Smith, who was master of the original 1947 mailboat.

The £42 million, built by Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaft MBH and Co KG, Flensburg, Germany, can carry 700 passaengers and 142 cars.
