Mariners are advised that weather permitting, on Monday 1st December 2014, contractors North West Marine Ltd is undertaking a dive project to inspect the quayside and pier structure of Lochboisdale Ferry Terminal, South Uist and fender repair works.

North West Marine Ltd will be operating from the dive support vessel MV Meercat and the pier deck with a safety boat in attendance. Works are programmed to be completed on or about 8th December 2014.

At all times pier dive operation working areas will be appropriately marked using Flag A “Diving Operations” with dive operations being undertaken between scheduled ferry services to ensure there is no disruption to service. The dive team supervisor will liaise with the harbour manager/supervisor and ferry Masters and will monitor VHF channel 16.

All vessels navigating in the vicinity of Lochboisdale Ferry Terminal pier are advised to exercise vigilance and pass at minimum safe manoeuvring speed and sufficient distance from the dive support vessels to reduce the risk of damage or injury being caused by the passing vessel’s wash or displacement.

Vessels are also advised, with the exception of scheduled ferry movements, while the Lochboisdale Ferry Terminal berths are being inspected or repaired the relevant section will be closed to all vessel access during the time works or dive operations are on-going.
