Mariners are advised that George Leslie Ltd has been contracted to undertake construction of berthing steps adjacent to Gourock Ferry Terminal linkspan.

Initial works to construct a temporary platform will commence on 18th November 2014 and equipment will be moved onto site with the main works commencing thereafter.

Weather permitting, works are programmed to last approximately 14 weeks, concluding during February 2015. During the construction period there will be a safety boat on standby in the water each day.

On-site contact for this project is:

Ian Taylor, Site Agent, George Leslie Ltd.  Mob: 07818 040036

The Site Agent will liaise with Masters of ferries using the facility and the local port manager to ensure there is no disruption to scheduled ferry services and will maintain a radio watch on VHF channels 16 and 12.

All vessels navigating in the vicinity of Gourock Ferry Terminal are advised to exercise vigilance and pass at minimum safe manoeuvring speed and sufficient distance from the area of works to reduce the risk of damage or injury being caused by the passing vessel’s wash or displacement. Owners and operators of high speed vessels should be particularly vigilant regarding their speed and the wash that can be created.
