1 53/14

With reference to NTM 51/14, mariners are advised that the dive project due to have commenced today at Port Ellen, Islay undertaken by North West Marine Ltd to inspect the inner harbour quayside and pier structure of the ferry terminal has now been delayed.

The dive project will now take place on or about Tuesday 19th August 2014.

At all times operational working areas will be appropriately marked using Flag A “Diving Operations” with pier dive operations being undertaken between scheduled ferry services to ensure there is no disruption to service. The dive team supervisor will liaise with the Harbour Manager and ferry Masters and will monitor VHF channel 16.

All vessels navigating in the vicinity of Port Ellen Ferry Terminal and inner harbour must do so with caution and regulate their speed to minimise the effects of wash accordingly. Any vessels using the quaysides or pier must do so with extreme care when Flag A is displayed and allow sufficient time for divers to exit the water if required.
