CMAL confirms Statutory Harbour Authority status for Ardrossan
Caledonian Maritime Assets Limited (CMAL) has confirmed that its Harbour Revision Order (HRO) to take on Statutory Harbour Authority responsibilities for the port of Ardrossan has been granted by Scottish Ministers.
This change comes into effect from 00:01 on Wednesday, 17 June 2026.

Becoming the Statutory Harbour Authority represents an important step in the overall Ardrossan Harbour project. It enables CMAL to exercise the rights and responsibilities associated with harbour management and supports the ongoing development of plans for the port’s future.
Any future redevelopment proposals for Ardrossan Harbour will be subject to further development and public consultation. This will provide an opportunity for local communities and stakeholders to inform how the project evolves over time.
This change does not alter ferry operations at Ardrossan. CalMac services will continue to operate as normal, and there will be no immediate impact for passengers or communities relying on the route.
CMAL will continue to work closely with Transport Scotland, CalMac and local stakeholders as work on the harbour continues.
