Join us in Oban, Stornoway, or Gourock

CMAL is pleased to announce a series of upcoming drop-in sessions as part of our Contractor and Professional Services Delivery Model Assessment. We invite interested parties—suppliers, professional service providers, fellow port operators, local authorities, and associated agencies—to join us in discussing how we can best engage with suppliers for future harbour and port infrastructure projects.

Event details

  • Stornoway: 17 September 2025
  • Gourock: 23 September 2025
  • Oban: 30 September 2025

We welcome you to attend any of these sessions to share your views, learn about our plans, and participate in shaping our future approach.

Purpose of the sessions

These engagement sessions are designed to:

  • Raise awareness of CMAL’s current review of contractor and professional services delivery models
  • Gather feedback from suppliers and other stakeholders on the best value approaches for engaging in future works and services
  • Facilitate collaboration among industry participants and local authorities

How you can get involved

Help us shape our future procurement and delivery strategies by completing our survey, available at cmal.scot/supplier-survey. Your input is vital in developing a strategy that reflects the needs of both CMAL and the broader community.

We also encourage feedback from those with an interest in participating in our process or collaborating on future projects.

Background

To keep our ports and harbours operational and fit for purpose, CMAL regularly engages external contractors and providers for professional services and works. The scale, scope, and location diversity of these requirements present unique challenges in supplier attraction and project delivery.

As our previous Framework Contract for Engineering Consultancy Services expired in August 2024, we are undertaking a comprehensive review of how we undertake future infrastructure works. Our goal is to develop a robust engagement strategy that ensures quality, value, and effective delivery of technical, construction, and maintenance services for years to come.
