Mariners are advised that from 21 March 2023, surveyors Aspect Land & Hydrographic Surveys will be undertaking high-resolution bathymetric and underwater camera surveys of Kilnaughton Bay and Loch Leodamais, Port Ellen, Isle of Islay.

The work is a continuation of recent survey work and weather permitting is expected to be completed within 3-days. The work will be undertaken from survey vessel Marine Sensor.

Communication will be maintained with CalMac Ferries Ltd, and others as required via VHF radio throughout all survey works. Surveys will be completed between sailings of the scheduled ferry services to avoid any disruption.

All vessels navigating in the vicinity of Kilnaughton Bay and Loch Leodamais during this time are requested to maintain a lookout for the survey vessel and pass at a safe distance and speed to minimise the effects of wash on the vessel.

Unless otherwise promulgated, information regarding the current status of CMAL NTMs can be found at https://www.cmassets.co.uk/harbours/notice-to-mariners where, if the NTM is still marked as ‘Active’ it remains in force.
