CMAL raises £1300 for Inverclyde Foodbank
Staff at Caledonian Maritime Assets Ltd (CMAL) have donated £1,308 to The i58 Project at the Hope Community Church in Inverclyde, which provides a foodbank, debt support, school uniforms and baby supplies to local residents.
The Port Glasgow-based company has supported the Inverclyde foodbank for many years, fundraising through bake sales, sponsored spin classes, sweepstakes for sporting events, and raffles. However, due to the restrictions of COVID-19 and staff working from home, this year’s donation was raised through an online collection, to which staff contributed.
Kevin Hobbs, chief executive at CMAL said:
“We have been supporting the Inverclyde foodbank for a number of years now, and we understand that this is a time of hardship and stress for many families. This year, the difficulties families face have been intensified by COVID-19, and with so many people out of work or furloughed, The i58 Project is having to rely even more on the kindness and generosity of the community for donations.
“We are a small team, and the generosity of our staff has been wonderful to see. We held an online collection and raised an incredible £1,308 from staff donations. We remain committed to supporting the local community, and hope that next year we can return to our fundraising activities.”
