Caledonian Maritime Assets Limited (CMAL) has completed planned operational improvement works at Oban Ferry Terminal which were designed to improve passenger safety at the harbour.
Work began in August 2020 under the Scottish Government’s guidance for the construction industry, and during the nine-week project, upgrades to surfacing, barriers and signage were made to improve pedestrian and vehicle safety at the ferry terminal.
Paul Colenso, senior civil engineer said: “Despite ongoing COVID-19 measures, we were able to deliver the Oban operational improvement works in a safe way within timescales.
“We worked closely with our contractor, Mackenzie Construction Ltd, to deliver the project on time and with minimal disruption to passenger experience. We’re proud there has been no interference with ferry services, with only a few minor temporary diversions for visitors to ensure public safety.
“Works like these are essential in promoting longevity in our ferry services and terminals and are a necessity in ensuring the safety and security of all who use the facility.”
