Between 20:00 and 21:15 on Saturday 9 September 2017, the Viking Festival of Fire will take place at Cairnie’s Quay, Largs. Weather permitting the event will culminate in a firework display commencing 2100hrs and lasting for approximately 15 minutes.

Mariners are advised that for safety reasons during the period of the firework display all vessels and other persons not connected with the event should maintain a safe distance of not less than 100 metres from Cairnie’s Quay as indicated in the diagram below.

Following termination of the display at 2115hrs the safety zone will be stood down.

At 15:00 on Sunday 10th of September 2017 weather and visibility permitting, the “Red Devils Freefall Team” will display a parachute jump off Largs Promenade.

Five Army parachutists will land on the beach or in the sea up to 100m offshore within an area south of Largs RNLI station slipway near the Festival site.

The parachutists will have personal flares to indicate their landing position to enable them to be picked up by individual safety boats.

Mariners are advised that for safety reasons during the period of the parachute display all vessels not connected with the event should maintain a safe distance of not less than 100 metres from the drop zone as indicated in the diagram below.

If weather is not suitable the event will be cancelled.
