Arran residents will soon benefit from a larger, well equipped local pharmacy as plans are laid for Arran Pharmacy Limited to transform the former terminal building.

Caledonian Maritime Assets Limited (CMAL) which owns the building, is working closely with owner David Thompson to finalise the heads of terms.

The larger premises will be fitted out with private consulting areas and offer a wider range of products and medicines, as well as enhanced pharmaceutical services.

Karen Jamieson, Buildings and Property Manager at CMAL said: “Transforming the former terminal building into a larger pharmacy will benefit the Arran community in so many ways. We worked with a committee including letting agent Graham & Sibbald, and an independent representative from the Ferries Community Board to ensure the winning bid would complement the surrounding terminal area and we are confident that Arran Pharmacy Ltd will deliver this.

“The pharmacy has well established training schemes, and the larger premises will have the potential for more local jobs. We hope the Arran residents are as happy about the new addition as we are.”

David Thompson, owner, Arran Pharmacy Ltd., said: “Moving into the former terminal building is a tremendous opportunity for us to expand the services we offer to local people and the many visitors to Arran. The new location has excellent public transport links and will also allow for earlier delivery of supplies. We are excited to begin the transformation.”

Refurbishment of the building will commence on signing of the contract, with the new pharmacy likely to open in Spring 2023.

The letting agent was Tom Conway of Graham & Sibbald.
