Complete NTM 29/16

Mariners are advised that dredging operations will take place at Brodick Ferry Terminal, Firth of Clyde. Weather permitting, works will commence on or about Tuesday 29th March 2016. The dredge period is expected to be 3 weeks, weather excluded and will be carried out on a 12/7 basis in the areas illustrated in the diagram below:

Working Boat MV Challenger will assist with operations on 29th March. Special mark buoys (4 off) will be lit Fl(4)Y 12 s 2M, (range 2nm), at least 1 meter diameter with a top mark of a St Andrews cross.

Land based contractor George Leslie Ltd will have direct radio contact with the vessel. The works supervisor will liaise w th Masters of ferries and other vessels using the existing pier facility and the local port manager to ensure there is no disruption to scheduled ferry services and a radio watch on VHF channels 12 and 16 will be maintained.

The work scope includes the dredging of a berth pocket in loose sandy materials to -5.5m. The dredged material is to be offloaded on the site at a temporary jetty to be constructed specifically for the purpose. The material to be dredged, approximately 12,800m3 will be used as fill material on site.

Any non-natural materials dredged up will be taken to a temporary jetty which will be constructed by George Leslie Ltd as part of the works specifically for the purpose of unloading the dredgings and other materials which have to be imported.

All vessels navigating in the vicinity of Brodick Ferry Terminal on the above date are advised to maintain a lookout for the vessel and proceed with caution, regulating your minimise the effects of wash accordingly.
