The closure of Portavadie slipway is being extended beyond the originally planned reopening date of 16 November 2026 following Storm Boelo damage in late October.
The storms and associated surge tides damaged key plant and equipment needed for the construction works, affecting the programme on site. The plant has now been repaired, and the contractor is working to complete the remaining works as efficiently as possible.
Following a review of the remaining works, the slipway is now expected to reopen on Monday 7 December 2026. The passenger vessel operating between Portavadie and Tarbert marinas will continue to operate until the slipway reopens. For up-to-date service information, please check CalMac’s Service Status.
We thank ferry users, local residents and businesses for their continued patience and understanding while the remaining works are completed. We recognise the inconvenience of the extended closure and appreciate the community’s support.
