Works to import and store steel pile materials for the Port Ellen Terminal Development project are due to take place in the week commencing Monday 12 October 2026, weather permitting.
The materials will be brought to Islay by vessel to minimise the impact on the island’s road network.
Once landed at Port Ellen, the steel piles will be transported from the pier to the project storage compounds adjacent to Islay Airport.
During this period, the local community may notice a higher level of lorry movements through Port Ellen village. The transportation works are expected to take around three to four days, subject to weather and operational conditions.
All movements will take place during normal working hours, and all works are being delivered in alignment with local authority approval.
The project team will continue to work with local stakeholders and provide updates as the works progress.
