The project to upgrade the piers at Tarbert, Lochmaddy & Uig has entered the design stage following completion of masterplans for each port, and detailed design of the favoured options has started.

Design is being undertaken in conjunction with onsite investigations, testing and environmental studies to support applications for required Marine Licences and Harbour Revision Orders and/or planning consents.

The Project team, including representatives from the three Harbour Authorities (CMAL, The Highland Council & Comhairle nan Eilean Siar); their engineering designers & environmental specialists and CFL recently held a series of public exhibition events (04-06 September 17) to share proposals for planned works at the Skye triangle ports.

The exhibitions were run as ‘drop in events’, and were well attended by the local communities, with around 100 people attending over the three events. Attendees met with the project teams, viewed the proposals and asked experts questions in a relaxed environment.  Following the exhibitions, the display boards showing the proposals for each port were put on display at the local CalMac ticket offices.

The next ‘drop in events’ are scheduled for 26-28 February 2018, details of which will be emailed to our stakeholders and will be advertised in local media.

We also have a dedicated space on the website where all stakeholders can access information about the project, including the summary masterplans, copy of the exhibition display boards and a Q&A document with responses to all the feedback received during and after the exhibitions. Details of the upcoming ‘drop in events’ will also be published here:
