Mariners are advised that from 13 September 2021, pier fender repair works will commence on the linkspan berth at Lochboisdale Ferry Terminal Pier, South Uist.

Following initial site set up on the pier the works thereafter will be predominantly undertaken from the pier deck with contractors using rope access within the linkspan berthing area and beneath the pier. Works will also involve the use of divers. Flag A ‘Diving Operations’ will be displayed at all times when divers are in the water.

Other than for scheduled ferry operations the pier will be closed to berthing by all vessels throughout the period of the works. During this time the dive supervisor will maintain radio communications on VHF channel 16 throughout any dive project.

Weather permitting, works are expected to be completed within 2 months.

All vessels navigating in the vicinity of Lochboisdale Ferry Terminal during this time are requested to do so with caution, maintain a lookout for the contractors and any dive team and regulate their speed to minimise the effects of wash accordingly.
