Complete NTM 19/21

Mariners are advised that following the recent prolonged period of extreme weather conditions several of the buoys that mark the CMAL visitor moorings in Loch Eatharna, Isle of Coll have become detached and are floating about the loch.

The buoys are blue with an orange pick-up buoy and may pose a navigational hazard to smaller vessels. Mariner’s using the area are advised to maintain a good lookout for any that are obviously out of position.

CMAL normally remove these buoys at the end of the sailing season to protect the ground gear and risers through periods of extreme winter weather but due to covid-19 restrictions this could not be achieved this winter.

At this time, most of the mooring buoys remain attached to their ground gear but until they are lifted and thoroughly inspected mariners must not use the visitor moorings until further notice is issued.
