NTM 13/21 Gourock Ferry Terminal Linkspan Lifting Operation

Mariners are advised the crane barge Lara 1 is scheduled to arrive on the Firth of Clyde on 24 January 2021 to assist in the linkspan replacement works at Gourock Ferry Terminal, Gourock Bay.

Weather permitting, about 14:00 on 25 January the crane will be in position to lift the new ferry linkspan from the terminal quayside and after conclusion of the last scheduled ferry sailing, about 21:00 will commence to lift the linkspan into its operating position.

During the lifting operation the barge master will maintain communications using VHF radio channels 12 and 16.

All vessels not involved in the works are requested to proceed at minimum safe speed and keep a safe distance of not less than 100m from Lara 1 at all times while the lifting operation is ongoing.

During this time, it is essential that all vessels navigating in the vicinity of Gourock Ferry Terminal proceed at minimum safe speed to avoid causing any wash that could cause movement of the barge during the lifting operation.
