CMAL UPDATES ITS THREE-YEAR CORPORATE PLAN
CMAL has updated its three-year corporate plan to 31 March 2025. The document outlines key achievements over the past year, and details key business priorities and deliverables going forward.
The plan also looks further ahead and summarises planned projects over the next seven years to include the financial year from March 2024.
Despite COVID-19 challenges, 2021/22 saw many significant achievements, including the initiation of port enabling works at Kennacraig, Port Ellen, Port Askaig and Colonsay and the completion of the procurement process for 2 new Islay ferries, awarded to shipyard Cemre in Turkey.
The Tarbert (Harris) pier project was completed, including the extension of the marshalling area, which will futureproof for new ferries. Other harbour projects include the removal of berthing dolphins at Kyleakin, completion of improvements to Oban’s traffic management, and the continuation of the roll-out of LED lighting.
In January 2022, an ‘Invest in Ferries’ campaign was launched, setting out current and future plans to modernise and upgrade the network.
Kevin Hobbs, CMAL’s chief executive, said:
“This year has come with its own challenges, but our team has worked diligently and professionally to drive through improvements. We have made excellent progress with many projects over the past 12 months and expect this momentum to continue.”
