Armadale and Mallaig

More clarity needed on vessel requirements

Consideration of the outcomes of the Armadale and Mallaig ferry terminals STAG study has identified the need for more clarity on the vessel deployment plans for the route.  Once the type of vessel required for the route has been confirmed, we will develop the options identified during the STAG study to the point of identifying a preferred option and the business case.

We will provide an update as soon as next steps are established.

The Scottish Transport Appraisal Guidance (STAG) study to consider the long-term infrastructure requirements at Armadale and Mallaig ferry terminals has been completed, and a copy is available:

As set out in Section 13 of the report, the next steps will be for CMAL and Mallaig Harbour Authority to each develop and appraise a number of options in further detail and each prepare a business case. This will consider economic, environmental, social factors and legislative requirements to identify a preferred solution to progress to design phase.

STAG study nearing completion

The Scottish Transport Appraisal Guidance (STAG) study to consider the long-term infrastructure requirements at Armadale and Mallaig ferry terminals is nearing completion. We are planning to publish a copy on our website by the end of March.

CMAL is progressing towards developing plans for Armadale Ferry Terminal. The next step is to develop and appraise a number of options in further detail and prepare a business case. This will consider economic, environmental and social factors and legislative requirements to identify a preferred solution to progress to design phase.  We will engage with stakeholders throughout the process, hosting public meetings and sharing information on the CMAL website.

Caledonian Maritime Assets Limited (CMAL) is nearing completion of a Scottish Transport Appraisal Guidance (STAG) study to consider the long-term infrastructure requirements at Armadale and Mallaig ferry terminals.  The study takes into consideration the pier, linkspan, passenger access system, vehicle marshalling areas, car parking and waiting facilities at both ferry terminals.

A public drop-in sessions have been arranged to present the options developed as part of the study, and to gather feedback from members of the public.

Individuals are welcome to drop in at any time during the sessions.

Representatives of CMAL, and the appointed consultants Mott MacDonald Ltd and Peter Brett Associates will be available during both sessions to discuss the study and any concerns or queries.
