In the interests of security, while operating within Castlebay harbour limits, mariners are advised of the following.

The International Ship and Port Facility Security Code applies to all vessels over 500GT engaged on international voyages.

Castlebay Ferry Terminal has an approved port facility security plan (PFSP) to accommodate calls by ISPS vessels. However, the slipway indicated in red on the diagram below is not CMAL’s property, is out with the overall boundary of the port facility and hence is not within the approved security plan area.

It has been brought to the attention of the harbour authority that ISPS vessels have been landing passengers by tender at the aforementioned slipway. In doing so the PFSP and associated temporary restricted area cannot be implemented.

While cruise vessels may be unaware this area is out with the Castlebay Ferry Terminal PFSP, ship security officers are advised to contact the harbour office (tel: +44 1871 200 304 select option 2) for guidance prior to landing or embarking passengers and are reminded that failure to comply with the appropriate security standards is a contravention of the Merchant Shipping Ship and Port Facility (Security) Regulations 2004.
