Mariners are advised contractor North West Marine Ltd are undertaking marine works which will include: removal by lifting and dismantling of the existing walkway structure between the Inner and Outer Dolphin structures, lifting into position and driving of 2 No. tubular steel piles, installing/casting of a concrete crosshead atop the piles and lifting of 2 No. new walkways into position between the Inner and Outer Dolphin structures and atop a new intermediate support at Lochaline Ferry Terminal.

Weather permitting, works are programmed to commence on Tuesday 24th November 2015 and are planned to conclude within 30 days.

The works will be undertaken from the Dunbarge CW7

The works supervisor will liaise with skippers of ferries using the facility and the local port manager to ensure there is no disruption to scheduled ferry services and a radio watch on VHF channels 12 and 16 will be maintained.

All vessels navigating in the vicinity of Lochaline Ferry Terminal are advised to exercise vigilance and pass at minimum safe manoeuvring speed and sufficient distance from the area of works to reduce the risk of damage or injury being caused by the passing vessel’s wash or displacement. Owners and operators of high speed vessels should be particularly vigilant regarding their speed and the wash that can be created.
