Complete 55/15

Mariners are advised that weather permitting, repair works will commence at Oban Ferry Terminal Linkspan no. 1 berth at 0700hrs Monday 16th November 2015 and are programmed to be completed by 0700hrs Monday 30th November 2015.

During this time access to Oban no.1 berth will be closed to all vessels.

The main contractor George Leslie Ltd will be operating from the quayside and works will include a dive project undertaken by dive contractors Shearwater Marine Services Ltd. A safety boat will be in attendance and divers will be deployed and recovered by means of a man-basket or the Lismore Ferry slipway.

At all times operational dive working areas will be appropriately marked using Flag A “Diving Operations”. There is no diving programmed for during the hours of darkness.

The dive supervisor will monitor VHF channels 12 and 16 and liaise with the Port Manager and skipper of the Lismore Ferry which will continue to operate a scheduled ferry service.

The skipper of this vessel must contact the dive supervisor prior to berthing to ensure sufficient time is allowed for the diver to exit the water which will be confirmed by the lowering of Flag A.

All vessels navigating in the vicinity of Oban Ferry Terminal Linkspan no. 1 Berth and Lismore Slipway are advised to exercise vigilance and pass at minimum safe manoeuvring speed and sufficient distance from the indicated works area to reduce the risk of damage or injury being caused by the passing vessel’s wash or displacement.
