LOCHALINE REPLACEMENT ALIGNING STRUCTURE
Caledonian Maritime Assets Limited (CMAL) has published an invitation to tender to remove and upgrade the aligning structure at Lochaline Ferry Terminal.
The alining structure is reaching the end of its serviceable life and needs to be replaced. The contract will include the removal of the old aligning structure and the construction of a new one.
CMAL Senior Civil Engineer, John Quinn said:
“This contract is part of our ongoing programme of harbour upgrades and modifications across our network to provide safe and efficient lifeline ferry services to communities around Scotland.
“Lochaline Ferry Terminal’s electricity supply was recently upgraded to incorporate a hybrid vessel charging point to help reduce overnight noise and pollution from overnight berthing. The upgrades will continue, and we will continue to work closely with the local community so people can understand the scope and nature of the work that will be carried out.”
Ferry service may be subject to amendment for limited periods during construction and operator CalMac will inform passengers when details are known.
The tender process is being managed through Public Contracts Scotland (PCS).
