Mariners are advised that BAM Nuttall Ltd continue to carry out pier repair works to the quay walls at Gourock Ferry Terminal, Firth of Clyde.
The period of repair works which commenced on Monday 12th September 2011 are now extended and are anticipated to continue until end of April 2012.
The works consist primarily of steel sheet pile repairs and concrete repairs to the quay walls and will be predominantly involve underwater diving operations undertaken by divers accessing the water from the quay edge. These operations are being undertaken on a 24-hour, 7-days a week basis and the contractors are authorised to hold full possession and control of sections of the Terminal quayside, including Kilcreggan Berth, as necessary to progress the programme as works.
All operational working areas will continue to be appropriately marked utilising Flag A “Diving Operations” at all times. To mark the outer limits of the works, 2 special marks are deployed approximately 30 metres off the quayside which, during the hours of darkness have yellow flashing beacons.
All vessels navigating in the vicinity of Gourock Ferry Terminal must do so with caution and regulate their speed to minimise the effects of wash accordingly. CFL and Argyle Ferries operated vessels arriving/departing the Terminal must contact the Pierhand on Channel P1 providing 15-minutes’ notice of intention to arrive/depart to allow sufficient time for divers to exit the water if required. All other vessels using the Terminal must do so with extreme care when Flag A is displayed.
Further details can be obtained using the contact details below.
