Work is being undertaken at Port Ellen and Kennacraig harbours which will deliver improved berthing facilities and accommodate the new vessel MV Finlaggan.

Mariners are advised that the light characteristics of the following aids to navigation located at Port Ellen, Islay have been altered and sanctioned to improve navigational information for mariners in the vicinity of the pier.

Winning name for world’s first hybrid ferry announced

Caledonian Maritime Assets Ltd (CMAL) has announced the winning name for the world’s first hybrid ferry after a two stage competition. There were hundreds of votes entered to name the world’s first sea going roll on roll off vehicle and passenger diesel electric hybrid ferry, but the most popular name by far was Hallaig.
