Lochranza Sea Wall Repair Project

Project overview

CMAL has announced that consulting engineers Atkins Ltd have been appointed to progress plans to replace part of the sea wall at Lochranza, which is currently in poor condition.

As a precautionary measure, the area around the bus stop and shelter has been temporarily fenced off. A one-week Ground Investigation (GI), which involves an examination of the level and condition of the rock below the existing wall and other infrastructure, will be undertaken at the end of August. Ferry operations will not be affected. The results of this investigation will enable design for the new wall to be finalised.

Construction of the new wall is planned to commence April 2012, with the works estimated to take approximately 3 months. This project will not affect the ferry service from Lochranza Pier, but may affect the bus stop area. CMAL is working closely with North Ayrshire Council to ensure that measures are taken to minimise any disruption.

Further updates on the project will be available in due course.
