Oban South Pier Planning Study

CMAL and Argyll & Bute Council have commissioned consultants URS Scott Wilson to undertake a Feasibility Study, considering options for development around the South Pier at Oban. 

The objective of the study is to identify a long term master plan for the area, taking account of stakeholders requirements; CMAL’s long term plans for replacement of  number 1 linkspan& modificationsto the Lismore Ferry Slipway; and the development of the South Pier as a dedicated fishing berth, feeding into Argyll & Bute Council’s CHORD programme.

Consultation and workshops withstakeholders including CalMac Ferries Ltd, RNLI, NLB and Oban Port Users have been arranged for key stages of the study, which is due for completion in early 2012.

Winning name for world’s next hybrid ferry announced.

Caledonian Maritime Assets Ltd (CMAL) has announced the winning name for the world’s second hybrid ferry. The innovative ferry, which is being built at Ferguson Shipbuilders Ltd in Port Glasgow, is due to be launched in May and will be called MV LOCHINVAR.

NTM 15/13: Gourock Ferry Terminal, Dive Project to Locate and Remove Sunken Small Craft

Mariners are advised that in continuation of NTM 13/13, Clyde Commercial Diving Ltd will undertake a dive project in the vicinity of the southern end of Gourock Ferry Terminal ‘top wires’ berth to locate and assess the condition of a small cabin cruiser which sank at that location on Sunday 10th March 2013.
