Oban South Pier Planning Study
CMAL and Argyll & Bute Council have commissioned
consultants URS Scott Wilson to undertake a Feasibility Study, considering
options for development around the South Pier at Oban.
The objective of the study is to identify a long term
master plan for the area, taking account of stakeholders requirements; CMAL’s
long term plans for replacement of
number 1 linkspan& modificationsto the Lismore Ferry Slipway; and
the development of the South Pier as a dedicated fishing berth, feeding into
Argyll & Bute Council’s CHORD programme.
Consultation and workshops withstakeholders including
CalMac Ferries Ltd, RNLI, NLB and Oban Port Users have been arranged for key
stages of the study, which is due for completion in early 2012.

Following a recent fault with the forward ramp system on board the MV FINLAGGAN, Caledonian Maritime Assets Limited (CMAL) has announced that repairs are now complete and the vessel is currently sailing back to Kennacraig.

Following the recent report of a technical fault on the forward ramp system onboard MV FINLAGGAN, the vessel underwent a full assessment and repairs were undertaken at Cammell Laird in Birkenhead. Commissioning of the vessel’s system has begun in earnest and it is expected that MV Finlaggan will leave the repair yard later this week.

Following the recent report of a technical fault on the forward ramp system onboard MV FINLAGGAN, the vessel sailed to ship repairers Cammell Laird in Birkenhead on Tuesday (21 June), where a full assessment of the fault was completed.
