Statement on MV Finlaggan

The Charterers of the Finlaggan, CalMac Ferries Limited, reported to CMAL there was a problem with the vessel’s machinery and that the vessel was making passage to Oban. This problem has been reported to the shipbuilder who are investigating the cause and arranging repairs to be undertaken. It is hoped the vessel can return to service very soon.

Commemorative brochure to mark the launch of MV Finlaggan

To mark the launch of MV Finlaggan, CMAL have produced a commemorative brochure titled "The Sea Route to Islay - The Journey to Finlaggan". Written by CalMac Historian Ian McCrorie, the brochure charts the development of the sea route to Islay from the first paddle steamer in 1825, to the launch of new MV Finlaggan in 2011.

CMAL take delivery of MV Finlaggan in Gdansk, Poland

Following recent sea trials in Gdansk, Caledonian Maritime Assets Limited (CMAL) will today (Wednesday 11 May) take delivery of the MV FINLAGGAN, the brand new vessel which will serve the Kennacraig to Islay route.

Sewerage pipe failure near Tobermory Ferry Terminal

CMAL has been made aware that a mains sewerage pipe has failed in the vicinity of Tobermory Ferry Terminal, Isle of Mull, which has resulted in some minor discharge into the water surrounding the terminal. Although full responsibility for the incident and repair rests solely with Scottish Water, CMAL will closely monitor progress and make a further statement in due course if required. We must stress that there is no adverse impact on ferry services from the terminal.
