Following the report of a technical fault on the forward ramp system onboard MV FINLAGGAN last week (14 June), the vessel’s crew and subcontractors addressed the problem and were able to close the ramp and bow door, allowing the ship to sail using the stern ramp only.

Following the report of a technical fault on the forward ramp system onboard MV FINLAGGAN on Tuesday afternoon (14th June), the vessel’s crew and subcontractors addressed the problem and were able to close the ramp and bow door, allowing the ship to sail. The vessel will continue to operate using the stern ramp only, until replacement parts are sourced and fitted

CMAL announce plans for Coll moorings

Following concerns about the poor conditions of the existing moorings at Coll and subsequent discussions with The Crown Estate, Caledonian Maritime Assets Limited has announced that it has made a formal application to install new visitor moorings, ensuring safe mooring facilities for users.

CMAL announce MV Jupiter will be recycled

Caledonian Maritime Assets Ltd (CMAL), after consultation with the Scottish Government and Cowal Ferries Ltd, has determined that their vessel MV Jupiter is at the end of its working life and will be sent for recycling in accordance with the UK ship recycling strategy.

Kennacraig Terminal Upgrade Phase 1 – Progress – May 2011

The berthing dolphin at Kennacraig was completed and successfully opened for use during the last week of April 2011. Graham Construction also completed all of the marine works to the south berth of the pier, which allowed the ferry services to revert to this berth and use the linkspan.
