Port Ellen Pier Reconstruction complete

The reconstruction of Port Ellen pier was successfully completed in June 2012, with the pier re-opening to ferry traffic on 01 July 2012. The challenging project was undertaken by contractors McLaughlin & Harvey Ltd, with professional engineering services provided by Halcrow Group Ltd.

Contracts signed on the new £42 million ferry for Western Isles

Caledonian Maritime Assets Limited (CMAL) has today (22nd June) announced that the contracts have been formally signed to build the new Stornoway-Ullapool ferry, announced earlier this month. The various documents including the shipbuilding contract and lease were signed for the replacement vessel, which is to be built at Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaft MBH and Co KG - Flensburg, Germany.

Caledonian Maritime Assets Limited announce plans for Stornoway to Ullapool route

Caledonian Maritime Assets Limited (CMAL) has today (8th June) announced that Lloyds Banking Group plc (LBG) are to provide financing for a replacement vessel for the Stornoway to Ullapool route and has named Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaft MBH & Co. KG (FSG), Germany as the preferred shipyard for the detailed design and construction of the vessel.
