Following further development of the plans for improvements to Port Ellen & Kennacraig harbours, Caledonian Maritime Assets Ltd (CMAL) would like to invite you to attend a public meeting at either Port Ellen and/or Tarbert to provide an update on the projects which will deliver improved berthing facilities and will accommodate the new vessel MV Finlaggan.

CMAL are holding public meetings to discuss the upcoming maintenance work on the Linkspans at Tarbert, Lochboisdale & Castlebay ferry terminals. Works will be undertaken around ferry services. The meetings will provide details of the work, and will allow local residents to ask a representative from CMAL and contractor Jack Tighe Ltd any questions.

Caledonian Maritime Assets Ltd (CMAL) is preparing for the launch of a major new addition to its fleet in Gdansk this week (Wednesday 30th June). The launch follows a £24m project to develop a new modern vessel which will serve island communities on the Kennacraig to Islay route.

The operation to remove the sunken barge near the entrance to Kennacraig Harbour has been successfully completed ahead of schedule and under budget. CMAL employed marine contractors Herbosch-Kiere who used their large working barge, Waasland, to excavate and remove the old Thames barge which sunk in the 1970’s.
