Mariners are advised that contractor North West Marine Ltd is carrying out repair works to Kilchoan Slipway, Ardnamurchan.
The repair works are anticipated to be complete by Friday 2nd March 2012.
The works consists of concrete repairs to the slipway supported by the installation of steel shuttering which extends the full width of the slipway toe (15m), however due to bed profile approximately 5m length of this shutter protrudes above the level of the slipway vertically 900mm above the height of the toe and are not visible at any state of the tide. Their position is marked by a yellow buoy directly above. Removal of the shuttering will be undertaken on Thursday 1st March 2012 and will be predominantly involve underwater diving operations undertaken by divers accessing the water from the slipway.
All operational working areas will be appropriately marked utilising Flag A “Diving Operations” at all times and will be undertaken between scheduled ferry services ensuring there is no disruption to service.
All vessels navigating in the vicinity of Kilchoan Slipway must do so with caution and regulate their speed to minimise the effects of wash accordingly. Any other vessels using the slipway must do so with extreme care when Flag A is displayed and allow sufficient time for divers to exit the water if required.
