Caledonian Maritime Assets Limited (CMAL) has announced that bed levelling works will be taking place in West Loch Tarbert, near the ferry terminal at Kennacraig.  The works will begin on 15th November and last two weeks.

The bed levelling works are being undertaken in advance of the Kennacraig Pier Upgrade project which will see the construction of a new berthing dolphin at the port.  The project works are currently being tendered and CMAL hopes to award the contract by the end of the month.

CMAL has contracted Coastworks Operations Ltd to complete the bed levelling which will use a “multicat” workboat to move soft bed material from either side of the Kennacraig pier, into deeper water adjacent to the pier.

The works will be completed this month, following advice from Marine Lab to complete them before the end of the year.

The works will not affect scheduled ferry services.
