Operation to remove sunken barge from Kennacraig Harbour successfully completed

The operation to remove the sunken barge near the entrance to Kennacraig Harbour has been successfully completed ahead of schedule and under budget. CMAL employed marine contractors Herbosch-Kiere who used their large working barge, Waasland, to excavate and remove the old Thames barge which sunk in the 1970’s.

Work set to begin to remove sunken barge from Kennacraig Harbour

Travellers using Kennacraig Ferry Terminal will soon see a new sight in the waters as work gets underway to remove a sunken barge near the ferry berth. Marine contractors Herbosch-Kiere will be using a large working barge, Waasland, to excavate and remove the old Thames barge which sank in the 1970’s. Project managed by consultant engineers Halcrow, the five week project will get underway at the beginning of May.
